US hog supply questions remain. August 15, 2022

The two main drivers of this strong hog market are a perception that rebounds in Chinese hog prices will bring more buying of US pork and concern over US hog supplies. The first issue can be dis-proven. The second issue, last week and today's hog slaughter, continues to plague us. Hog futures attempted lower trade today but rebounded to the third best close of the October contract.
