Weight data out today, for the kill two weeks ago, was negative for cattle. Steer weights fell 2 lbs. from the prior week to now 898 lbs. Heifer weights grew 8 lbs. from the prior week at 837. Instead of the seasonal, weight declines at this time, heifers posted the largest weight in eight weeks. This information suggests packers are well-supplied, not just with willing sellers due to feed costs but also due to higher than expected numbers ready for them.
