Cold Storage finds larger than expected pork stocks

Stocks of frozen pork in the nation's warehouses at the end of July came to 443.128 million lbs. This was larger than our 425.723 expectation. This is a tough one to rectify when looking at very tight July US pork production levels. USDA estimates July US pork production at only 2.050 billion lbs. That was 13.6% under last year's virus-impacted numbers, -322 million lbs. But last month's production run was also small compared with two years ago, the last normal-year run. Compared with 2019 our July was -7.3%, -161 million lbs.
