Short Term Forecasts Shift, Planting Pace Picks Up

Crop Progress showed the US moved corn planting up from 49% complete to now 65% as of Sunday. That fell short from the trade estimate of 68%. The five year average is 42%. US corn yields, at this time, are validly at trend yield. Weather in May nor first half June is a determinant of final yields. The mid-summer forecast is the key.
