Allendale, Inc. Releases Cattle on Feed Estimates
CHICAGO, IL. (April 13, 2023) – The following are our estimates for the coming Cattle on Feed report.
March placements are expected -3.6% from last year at 1.918 million head. This March estimate would mark seven months of placement declines which average -5.1% from prior year. March placements determine a part of September – December finished cattle supply. Kansas State University estimates cattle finished during this period start at $163 breakevens and end up to $175.
Allendale anticipates a Marketing total in March -1.9% from last year at 1.962 million.
Total Cattle on Feed as of April 1 is estimated at 11.543 million, -4.6% from last year. This is the smallest total for this month in three years.
