Allendale, Inc. Releases Cattle Estimates
CHICAGO, IL. (July 17, 2023) – The following are our estimates for the upcoming Cattle report.
The bi-annual Cattle report, known unofficially as Cattle Inventory, is a survey of the base cow/calf producer. This report gives a complete breakdown of cattle in the U.S. as of July 1. The industry uses it to shed light on long term expansion or contraction changes.
This year’s report will confirm a fifth year of declining beef cow numbers. Our 29.132 million head beef cow estimate would be the lowest ever of the July data series that started in 1971. Given much larger output per cow over that time, that does not mean lowest beef production of those years.
