Allendale, Inc. Releases Cattle on Feed Estimates
CHICAGO, IL. (July 13, 2023) – The following are our estimates for the coming Cattle on Feed report.
June placements are expected -0.9% from prior year at 1.614 million head. Two months now, May and June, have disrupted the pattern from the prior eight that ran -4.5% from prior year. June placements determine a part of December – March finished cattle supply. Kansas State University estimates December – February finishing cattle require a $184 breakeven.
Allendale anticipates a Marketing total in June -4.0% from last year at 1.935 million.
Total Cattle on Feed as of July 1 is estimated at 11.120 million, -1.9% from last year. This is the smallest total for this month in six years.
