Allendale, Inc. Releases Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report Estimates
CHICAGO, IL. (June 20, 2022) – On Wednesday, June 29, USDA will release the quarterly Hogs and Pigs report. The following are our estimates for what USDA may suggest:

Allendale, Inc. Releases Cattle on Feed and Cold Storage Estimates
CHICAGO, IL. (June 20, 2022) – The following are our estimates for the coming Cattle on Feed and Cold Storage reports.
May placements are expected +1.6% from last year at 1.911 million head. May placements supply a portion of the November through February finished cattle supply. Kansas State University estimates cattle finished in those months require a $152 breakeven.
Allendale anticipates a Marketing total in May +2.8% from last year at 1.922 million. There was a 2.2% calendar based adjustment this month.
Total Cattle on Feed as of June 1 is estimated at 11.919 million, +1.9% from last year. This now marks five months in a row of record feedlot inventories since the current data series from 1996. The US beef market will be well-supplied into October.

Cattle on Feed is estimated as a percentage of one year ago.
Allendale projects a 513 million lb. total pork stock level for the end of May. The five-year average is 554 million lbs. Our estimate represents an increase of 5 million lb. from the previous month. Over the past five years May averaged a 29 million decrease. Beef stocks, at 513 million lbs., are over the five-year average of 423. This month’s estimate represents a decrease of 19 million lbs. from the previous month. The five-year average for this month is for a 35 million decrease.
