Allendale All-Stars are individuals that have showcased the best version of what it takes to become a positive and influential employee at Allendale. They find ways to help others when needed, and are key players contributing to the overall success at Allendale. They carry themselves with pride but also are dependable to others.
Bob Dalton is a licensed broker with Allendale since July 2008, and is a liaison to all of our branch offices.
We took a moment to talk with Bob about his employment here at Allendale.
Why did you decide to start working for Allendale?
“Steve Georgy and I worked together at CDW. He left CDW to work for his family’s firm and a few years later, asked me if I would like to do the kind of work he was doing. I always wanted a job in the markets, and Steve was a good and trusted friend so, I took him up on the offer. Best career decision I have ever made!”
What is your “Why”? Meaning what keeps you coming to work every day?
“This career is very exciting and unpredictable. At CDW, it was the same thing day after day and it was becoming boring after 8 years. This career is very unpredictable. I walk into the office, most days, not knowing what to expect and usually end up very busy due to something I didn’t see coming.
The clients are the main reason I keep coming back. Getting my clients taken care of is very rewarding. I consider most all of my clients to be friends or even an extension of my family. Treating them as such is the only way I can be happily successful in this arena.”
Is there anyone you want to give a shout out to? Someone who has helped you grow, while on your journey here at Allendale?
“Steve and the Georgy family are the reason I am at Allendale and have seen the success I have. Steve knew how dedicated I am to my work and responsibilities before I even walked in the door at Allendale. He took that knowledge and taught me most everything I know about the industry as well as my job.
Paul Georgy also had a large role in refining me into the broker I am today. If it was not for the opportunity at Allendale, I would not have been able to accomplish my personal goals both for myself and my family. Big shout out to the Georgy’s!
I would also like to thank my wife and kids for putting up with me! In the early days of my brokerage career, I spent countless hours in the office, at all hours of the day. My kids went without dad always being home when they got home from school or when they were getting into bed at night. My wife played a “single mom” for the first 3 years or so. She is a real trooper and I’m not sure what I would do without her.”
What is your favorite activity outside of work?
“When I am not working I can usually be found on the streets in my classic car. I love taking it to car shows and meeting others in the hobby as well as trying to influence the next generation of collectors to never give up on their dreams of one day owning that “magical” dream car.”
If you are having a bad day, what do you do to turn things around?
“This is an excellent question! I have 2 sources I go to for comfort after a bad day. The first is my wife, Kelly. She is a VP at her company and can tell when I’m off my game or having a bad day. We both work out of our home now in Tennessee, so we do check in on each other during the work day. She is always there with encouraging words or offering solutions to my issues. Without her, none of what I do would be worth the stress or anxiety it brings.
My second outlet for relief of a bad day is none other than Steve Georgy. In the office, he is the President of the firm I work for. Outside of the office, we have somehow been able to manage an off hours friendship in which I know I can go knock on his door or ring his phone and just have it all out on the table to discuss without fear of being talked down to or ridiculed. Steve is a great guy and one of my best friends. He always seems to know when something is wrong and never fails to surprise me with a call out of the blue just to chat.”
